The third supplement for the Original Dungeons & Dragons game, dating back to 1976 (although these 4th printing copies were printed in 1977).
All sorts of D&D staples first appeared in this supplement – psionics, the druid character class, demons (including Demogorgon and Orcus), mind flayers and the first artifacts (including the Rod of Seven Parts, Vecna’s Eye and Hand, the Sword of Kas and the Axe of the Dwarvish Lords).
Druids and demons. This was when some of the anti-D&D feeling among christian groups in the US started. I’m guessing that the cover illustration didn’t help either…
